  • The gifts are paid on a reimbursement basis.

Amount Available Each Year

A total of up to $20,000 will be made available annually to one or more worthy applicants.

Eligible Use Of Funds – Teams and Individuals

  1. Bonspiel entries – for a team of four players entering a competitive level bonspiel
  2. Ice rental – for training purposes
  3. Professional support – for trainers and coaches outside of the team coach
  4. School tuition

Eligible Use Of Funds – Curling Clubs

To buy an iPad for a BC Curling Club in order for a qualified coach at that club to record and analyze the technical skills and game play of competitive curlers. The curlers must be either members of their club or use the club for training purposes.

Notes:

  • The gift is a reimbursement for expenses. An agreement is signed with a promise for the funds to be paid if the terms are met. Receipts must be submitted for the reimbursement, and a very brief report must accompany the receipt.
  • A team of four, or an individual playing on a team of four, could be eligible.
  • The team must be intending to enter the playdowns, in the season starting that year, that lead to a national championship in  the following categories: BC Junior (U20), or Men’s, or Women’s, or Mixed doubles, or wheelchair championship.  (Note: These are the events that would have the participants have an opportunity to be on an Olympic or Paralympic path. However, the only requirement is to enter the events that lead to a provincial playdown.)
  • A basic training plan and schedule must be submitted.
  • Need will be assessed in ranking the applicants.
  • Professionals providing support to a team must be approved by the Fund panel.
  • Ice rental must be at a BC curling club and be a required payment to use ice at that club.
  • For the tuition – the student must be training as a competitive curler on a four-person competitive team. The school must be an approved BC post secondary institution, and the student will be attending in person classes during the fall and winter sessions.
  • Decisions made by the Al Moore Fund panel, with chair Linda Moore, are final (no appeals).
  • This is a gift, not a grant. There are no tax implications to the recipient.
  • The fund needs to be recognized by the team. Pins will be given and should be worn on off ice apparel.
